The Fluffy Butt Hut
We have a large variety of chickens in our coop - including Polish, Rhode Island Reds, New Hampshire Reds, Wyandottes, Brahmas, Speckled Sussex, Gold and Black Star, Black Copper Marans, Leghorns, Easter and Olive Eggers, and many others, including a pen of Silkies!
The Quack Shack
Currently we have Cayuga and Rouen ducks loudly enjoying the handmade pond life and kiddie pools cleaned and refilled daily.
Quaility Inn
We currently have a handful of Coturnix and Red Coturnix quail in a hutch. These birds are quick to reach maturity, quiet, and require very little space. Their eggs are so cute!
The GOATs
Goat math is almost as bad as chicken math! We started with 4 Nigerian Dwarfs and ended up with 22 at our most during kidding season last year! We have shifted from Nigerian Dwarfs to Mini-Nubians and provide fresh milk, as well as cute kids each spring!
Growing up in a small town on 10 acres, I have always wanted to return to the small town life and have land and animals. When the world experienced Covid, I sped that up from a retirement dream to right now! Life is too short. After living in College Station and then Cypress for several years, we made the move to the small (well, it was small!) town of Montgomery in late 2020. The first chickens arrived January 2021, and it's been downhill since then.
While it is a lot of work, I wouldn't trade it for anything, and enjoy taking care of the menagerie each night - though it does make vacations difficult, and sometimes I question my sanity and lack of impulse-buying control when it's 11pm and I'm filling up pools for the ducks, or milking the goats.
All baby goats have found new homes! Check back next spring for more babies.
Thin Mint gave us two bucklings on February 15 - Tag-Along and Pepe Le Pew.
They will be available to go to new homes after April 12.
They both may be surgically castrated if desired.
Eggs for sale
We have tons of eggs now - but as the days get shorter, there will be less and less! Stop by anytime or call before coming to make sure some are in stock. Great for eating or hatching, and they look beautiful on your counter!
