Why TownWell?

You may be wondering how did we choose this name?

We had several pages of names we had brainstormed, but none sounded quite right. So we began researching historical figures and/or names associated with Montgomery, TX and came across the page below - and it fit!

Originally it was going to be "TownWell and Goat Veterinary Clinic" but that was too many words to say when answering the phone!

We hope our clinic can embody the friendliness and spirit of giving that the name holds.

Our Doctor

McKinlea Wells, DVM was born and raised in a small town in North Texas and has always wanted to be a veterinarian (Olympic equestrian wasn't in the cards!). She grew up showing livestock in 4-H and FFA, as well as horses. Dogs and cats and other assorted animals have always been a part of her life. She attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a Biomedical Science degree in 2008, then immediately attended Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated cum laude in 2012. Dr. Wells has been practicing in the Houston area since 2012, first as an associate at Brittmoore Animal Hospital for several years where she honed her expertise in canine reproduction, as well as several years as a relief veterinarian focused on small animals helping other clinics in Houston and surrounding counties. Dr. Wells has been married to her husband, Stephen Wells, since 2011. They have 3 wonderful children together - Anna, Vera, and Paul - who you will likely see working at the clinic as they get older! We are currently actively involved in Little League, Montgomery Girls Softball Association, Montgomery Karate, and Evening Star 4-H and can't wait to start sponsoring these great organizations. When not at work, the work comes home - after moving to Montgomery in 2020, Dr. Wells began raising dairy goats and chickens, and started a little homestead of her own (as so many did during Covid) - W5 Family Farms. You will find our eggs, hatching eggs, chicks, and other goods in our 'mini-coop' to come in the new clinic! See our farm page for more information (coming soon!). Dr. Wells has a special interest in canine reproduction, goat (caprine) reproduction and dairy goat medicine, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine. She is jumping into treating exotics and small ruminants to help fill a need in the area. Check out our services page to find what species we will be treating.
